Wishful Thinking Isn't Faith

Wishful thinking is not faith. It's a cousin of doubt. Don't go there.

BELIEVE with all of your heart like when you were a little kid!

Wishful thinking throws something out there as if God is waiting, just waiting, for you to throw a request out and then playing a game with you to see whether or not you deserve for Him to bless you.

First of all this is NOT the character and heart of the God of the Universe and secondly, He never said, “Come to me and wish that one day I would answer you.”  No…. He said, “Seek me with your whole heart and if you do, you will find me.”

Wishful thinking isn’t intimate, it’s distant. I’m not even sure if it’s hopeful.

Wishful thinking is a cousin of doubt and it has a ‘looks good’ covering on it. It’s deceptive.

At least you wished… kind of like throwing a penny into the wishing well and hoping the distant gods of the world will somehow, in some magical way, answer you.

That is not how the God of the Bible is. He’s not distant, He’s personal. He’s not waiting for you to hope He answers you, He is longing to have relationship with you.

Believe, like when you were a kid.

When you were a kid you would jump from one piece of furniture to the next. You’d pretend the kitchen chairs, all lined up in a row, were the top of skyscapers and you were the newest featured trapeze artist… hopping through the air, from building top to building top.

You could feel your feet almost slipping, but no…. not you! You were the trapeze star of the century! You didn’t fall. You didn’t miss a step. You were successful! Success is what you dreamed of…… you, the successful famous trapeze star! Soaring through the air as the crowd cheered you on.

Hopping from one kitchen chair to the next….

In your mind hopping from one skyscraper to the next….

Be a kid again.
